Kanaries Data, Inc. ("Pixno", "we", "us" or "our") operates Pixno, formerly Photes.io. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and share information when you use our websites, web app, free online tools, desktop apps, mobile apps, plugins and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. Name, email address, phone number, sign-in credentials and profile information that you provide, or that we receive when you sign in through a third-party service such as Google or GitHub.

Payment information. Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers. We may receive limited billing details, such as your billing address, the last four digits of your card and transaction information.

Content. Files, images, documents, audio, text, prompts, messages and other material you upload, record, dictate or otherwise submit through the Service, including through our desktop and mobile apps, and the output generated from it.

Usage data. Information about how you access and use the Service, such as IP address, device and browser information, approximate location, access times, pages viewed, features used, referral information and diagnostic data.

Cookies and similar technologies. We and our service providers use cookies, local storage and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences and analyze usage.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • provide, operate and maintain the Service, including generating notes, transcripts and other output;
  • process transactions and send related information;
  • communicate with you, including sending updates, support messages and promotional materials;
  • monitor and analyze usage and trends, and develop and improve the Service;
  • protect the security and integrity of the Service and prevent fraud and abuse;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

When you use AI features, your content is sent to AI model providers to generate output.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • with service providers that help us operate and provide the Service;
  • with third-party services that you choose to connect or export to;
  • publicly, when you choose to make content public;
  • when we believe it is required by law or legal process, or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Pixno, our users or others;
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business;
  • with your consent.

4. Service Providers

We use third-party service providers, including, for example:

  • Hosting, infrastructure and storage: Vercel, Supabase, Cloudflare, Railway, Zeabur and Upstash
  • Payments: Stripe
  • AI models and processing: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter (which routes requests to models from multiple AI providers), Perplexity, Fireworks AI and Alibaba Cloud
  • Communications: Alibaba Cloud
  • Analytics: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity
  • Sign-in and integrations you choose to use: Google, GitHub, Notion and Evernote

This list is not exhaustive and may change at any time without notice. Information processed by these providers is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. We may keep certain information after you delete content or your account where permitted or required by law, including in backups.

6. International Transfers

We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than the one where you live. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

7. Data Security

We implement a variety of security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to, or display, third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@photes.io. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we may keep information where permitted or required by law.

10. Google Account Data

Signing in with Google

When you choose Google sign-in, we use Supabase to authenticate your account. We receive your Google account identifier, email address, name and profile picture where available, and store profile information with your Pixno account to identify you and display your profile.

Exporting to Google Docs or Slides

Exporting is a separate action that requires your Google authorization. We request access to specific files through the drive.file permission. Your selected notes, titles, image references and Google access token are sent to our conversion service hosted on Zeabur, which converts the content and creates a file in your Google Drive. This export step does not send the content to a generative AI model.

Temporary files and backups

Document conversion creates temporary files on the server. Backups of server logs and temporary files are retained for 30 days. This backup retention period does not determine how long your saved Pixno notes or files exported to Google Drive remain available.

Revoking access and deleting data

You can revoke Pixno's access through your Google Account's third-party connections settings. To request deletion of your Pixno account data, use the account deletion option in Pixno or contact support@photes.io. Revoking Google access does not automatically delete data already stored in Pixno. Files exported to Google Drive remain under your control and can be deleted there.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
